MANIA is a platform about performing art with an emphasis on every staging act characterized by a strong structural mark and with an avant-grade approach developed through an important study of the movement and the variability of mise-en-scène.
For this reason MANIA makes no distinction in showing performances belonging to categories such as performing art, contemporary dance, dance-theater and theater.
MANIA is a map of the best contemporary performances and it also introduces a monthly guide highlighting events in galleries, museum, institutions, contemporary art fairs, theaters and spaces in general.
MANIA is a dancing hand that touches lightly moving things.

Achterland (1990) is a seminal choreographyin Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s oeuvre. This was the first dance material that she wrote specifically for men. For this production, three male dancers joined Rosas, which had previously been a predominantly female company. The minimalism and prevalent femininity of Rosas’ early pieces gave way to an ambiguous no-man’s-land in which boundaries and symbols were blurred. In Achterland, young girls dress up in suits, women in men’s suits, while young men eagerly imitate the dancing women. Györgi Ligeti’s and Eugène Ysaÿe’s imbues the production with a playful-virtuoso atmosphere. The violinist and pianist onstage not only interpret the score, but also play an active role in the dancing – an approach that De Keersmaeker would repeat in many subsequent projects. Last season, the reprise of Achterland starring a new generation of Rosas dancers made a tremendous impression: don’t miss this opportunity to see it again.
